Our day-to-day actions consist of created habits over time, some good some bad. But there are healthy habits that if adapted to our routine make us feel good with ourselves. They may even help others as well what makes us feel good inside.
Here I talk about some of these habits, although I know that there are many more. It is up to you to choose what to include in your daily routine.
1. The first healthy habit is to drink water first thing in the morning
When you drink water first thing in the morning it will help you to cleanse your body and get your day off to a good start.
If it is difficult to remind yourself to drink water as soon as you get up, you can install an app on your phone to remind you. Apps such as Good Habits (Apple) or HabitBull (Android) are simple to use and practical.
2. Walk 10,000 steps
It doesn’t seem easy to walk 10,000 steps every day, but for those of you who go to work on foot or by public transportation such task is easy.
If you drive a lot, use your lunch hour to go for a walk and you will see that the steps increase over time. Take advantage of all opportunities to walk a little more. Try parking away from the door of your home or school.
If you can do it outside the city or in parks where the air is fresher and purer.
3. Set 3 daily tasks to help you meet your goals
If you don’t have goals, you will watch your life drift by, never achieving anything significant.
So make a habit of defining your goals in the beginning of every year, following them up every month, every week and every day. You will start to see things happening.
Maybe you will visit a place you wanted to visit for a long time, maybe you will buy the house or the car of your dreams.
Who knows? Only you can. Don’t be afraid to dream!
So, every day define the 3 most important tasks, the tasks that will help you meet your goals.
4. Keep a journal
Writing on a journal every night helps you to figure out what you have achieved and where you want to go.
It also helps you to overcome difficult moments in which you lose hope for a better life. They come around sometimes and we have to have weapons to fight them off.
Write about your day, your daily winnings, your goals, how do you feel … Whenever you need to read what you wrote, it will give you strength to continue on the path to achieving your dreams.
5. Be grateful for what you have
Write in your journal what are you grateful for. Give thanks for your family, for your health and well-being, for life, for the opportunity to do better and to help others.
You will see that afterwards you’re going to feel better.
6. Have positive thoughts
We are what we think. So, if you always have negative thoughts your life will be very … negative.
Whenever you feel a negative thought is coming try to turn it into something positive. As we are creatures of habit if you do it for a while you will see that your thoughts will start changing and it will be increasingly easy to have positive thoughts.
7. Do a good deed
Doing good deeds for others makes human beings feel good, that’s why so many people embrace humanitarian causes.
So, don’t forget to do a good deed every day. Even if you just help someone across the road or carry their grocery bag they will thank you for it.
That’s right, smile.
Sometimes we are so caught up in our daily problems that we forget to savor the moment and smile. Why not give a few laughs too? Smiling is good for our skin and keeps us young.
Even if you don’t do a good deed, but you smile to someone, even a stranger, you’ll feel better and so will they.
9. Meditate for 10 minutes
There are various benefits to meditation. From strengthening the immune system to helping our emotional balance, reduce blood pressure, among others.
Only 10 minutes of meditation a day can make a difference on your health as shown by Andy Puddicombe in his book Get some Headspace.
Have you tried to introduce healthy habits such as these in your life?
